I’m pleased to share the news that a publication I worked on together with the collective – the Rheinische Sektion der Kompostistischen Internationale – has finally been published.

Published in: GENDER – Journal for Gender, Culture and Society, Vol. 18, Issue 1 (2026): Care, Sustainability and Transformation.
The current issue, as well as the journal’s complete online archive, is available at: gender.budrich-journals.de

Summary:
Composting methods ec(h)ologically: Doing collectivity with more-than-human assemblages
This article reflects on the possibilities of feminist, transformative, and sustainable science, and employs an experimental, compostistic research practice through a collective (writing) process. By critically examining traditional, predominantly rationalist and objectifying methods, the collective does not seek novel solutions; rather, it works through and takes responsibility for in/consistent answers. Following Donna Haraway’s conceptual framework, compost is understood as a deliberate effort to establish practices of knowledge production and world-making that shift the focus away from the human, enabling thinking with and through non-human and more-than-human assemblages. Throughout the article, visions of climate justice, a stone museum, stimulants in art practice, digital game characters, and more-than-textual companions converge. In this way, our compostistic dialogue explores potential connections between compost, sustainability, care-taking, and transformative science.
